If you do not have a domain
name registered, we can help you to choose and
register one. If you already have your domain
name registered, we will transfer it to our system
free of charge when we set up your web space.
Different types of Domain name
have different meanings, and cost different amounts
to maintain. All the domain name pricing above
is for names ending in .co.uk
or .org.uk. Other
types of domain, including .com,
.ltd.uk etc are
available, but may be more expensive than .co.uk
names. Please call us for the latest prices and
advice.
Please note also that when we
register a domain name for you, YOU own that name
- we don't. If you want to use the name elsewhere,
say with a different hosting company, we will
transfer the name free of charge to your chosen
company's control.
Owning a domain name does carry
responsibilities, and each type of name can only
be used in compliance with the Contract issued
by the organisation which manages that type of
name. For example, use of a name ending in .co.uk
is subject to the Contract operated by Nominet
UK, who manage the .co.uk
name system, or "registry".
Here are a few examples of registries,
the names they control, and links to contract
documents detailing the terms and conditions required
by that registry. Note that all the example contract
documents are provided by our domain registration
partner, Tucows Inc of Toronto, Canada.
The whole system for naming internet domains
is managed by ICANN, who authorise the registries
and manage standards for internet communications.
ICANN operates a Dispute
Resolution policy in cases where the ownership
of domain names is disputed, and we are required
to make you aware of this by publishing the following
information:
This Uniform Domain Name Dispute Resolution
Policy (the "Policy") has been adopted by
the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names
and Numbers ("ICANN"), is incorporated by
reference into your Registration Agreement,
and sets forth the terms and conditions in
connection with a dispute between you and
any party other than us (the registrar) over
the registration and use of an Internet domain
name registered by you. Proceedings under
Paragraph 4 of this Policy will be conducted
according to the Rules for Uniform Domain
Name Dispute Resolution Policy (the "Rules
of Procedure"), which are available at www.icann.org/udrp/udrp-rules-24oct99.htm,
and the selected administrative-dispute-resolution
service provider's supplemental rules. |
