Education Licensing

Education institutions such as colleges and schools often need multi-user licences for TexToys, and we provide such licences at a sensible price, with flexible conditions.

All multi-user licences are based around "seats" - a seat is an additional user licence for a full copy of the program. If you want to buy the program with a licence which enables 25 members of staff to use the program, you must buy one full licence for the institution, and 24 extra seats.

Please note

• licences are required by teachers who use the TexToys programs, not the students who complete the exercises. You do NOT need a licence for everyone who completes the exercises, only for those who use the TexToys programs to create exercises;
• a full licence includes limited hosting at hotpotatoes.net - see hosting. The purchase of extra seats does not include extra hosting for each seat. If you are interested in hosting services for your extra seat users, please contact us to discuss your needs in detail.

One popular feature of our site-licensing terms is that they automatically entitle any teacher who is authorised to use one of the "seats" to install and use the program on a computer at home. The following restrictions apply:

• The institution is responsible for ensuring that the number of staff-members using the program at any one time does not exceed the number of licensed seats, no matter where those users may be located.
• Staff members may only install and use the program at home in order to do work for the institution which owns the licence. If a teacher wants to use the program when doing work for different institutions who do not own TexToys licences, that teacher must purchase his/her own copy of the program (or convince the other institution to do so!).

The price you (or your school or college) will pay for the first full licence is always the same - £20. (The "£" or pound is our UK currency - one pound is currently worth approximately US Dollars, or Euros.)

The price of extra seats depends on the number you want:

• 1-10 seats: £10 each
• 11-25 seats: £9 each
• 26-50 seats: £7.50 each
• 50-100 seats: £6 each

Please note that the payment method can affect pricing - if your school cannot pay by credit card, we can accept cheques (or checks!) in most currencies, but this may incur a transaction charge. Please contact us by email to discuss the best way to pay.

We are usually happy to accept official orders from Education institutions, and give 30 days credit on such orders. It is usually best to send official orders by fax - our fax number is listed on our Contact Page.

TexToys is registered with the UK Government's Curriculum Online scheme, and can be purchased using Electronic Learning Credits.
