What's New in Version 3.1
The latest Markin version, adds
several new features to previous versions:
The Markin installer now includes an option to
install the program with a French, Spanish, German or Danish interface. For more information, click the flags below.
You can now use keyboard shortcuts
to add annotations, as well as by clicking with
a mouse.
A new output format has been
added, with support for Netscape 6+, Internet
Explorer 6+, Mozilla, and other current browsers.
It combines the appearance of the RTF output with
the functionality of the interactive HTML output.
The page allows colour and monochrome
printable versions to be generated, obviating
the need to use the RTF output, and also allows
the student to generate a complete annotation
key.
Font and paragraph styles are
now carried over from the source text into the
RTF and HTML output.
URL linking (using the existing
Useful Links feature) can now be used inside annotations.
Most windows and dialog boxes
are now resizable, and remember their size between
sessions.
A new preference setting allows
preferences to be stored either in the registry
(as before, the default), or in a configuration
file in the user's Application Data folder. This
may help solve some network deployment problems
which users experienced with earlier versions.
In Send Marked Work By Email,
the latest marked work was at the end of the list,
so you had to scroll to find it. It is now at
the beginning -- they are listed in reverse order.
Also, when sending marked work by email, there
is a Delete button to remove addressees from the
list. You could delete them with the Delete key
before, but many users did not realize this.
There is now an option in the
Preferences to output RTF in monochrome instead
of colour.
Text output now uses square
brackets instead of angle brackets, to avoid problems
in HTML environments.
